Now Accepting Donations for the Auction

The Sacred Selections Dinner and Silent Auction is getting closer!  And here's your chance to help make it an extra special night.  We are now accepting donations of material goods and services to be put in the silent auction!  An appropriate auction item is anything you think other people might want to buy.  Last year we had some fabulous homemade items, like baked goods, baby clothes, and quilts.  Many area businesses also donated gift cards, gift baskets, oil changes, jewelry, tickets to events, sports memorabilia, and much more.  If you have something you would like to contribute, please contact Phillip or Tracy Shumake at 859-537-7025.  It's going to be a fun night for everyone!  Don't forget to mark your calendar for Friday, October 19th!

Save The Date for 2012 Sacred Selections Fundraiser

Last year, Lexington area Christians came together to help fund the adoption of two sweet little orphans from Eastern Europe, into the Rowe family.  I'm happy to say that both those children are home, doing great, and no longer orphans!  But there are always more children that need your help, and your opportunity is coming up soon.  It's almost time for another Sacred Selections Fundraiser!

SAVE THE DATE:
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 19TH 6:30PM

If you aren't familiar with Sacred Selections, read on.  Sacred Selections is an amazing non-profit charity created by David and Dana Carrozza, who are members of the church of Christ.  The organization raises money from individual Christians, and gives it to other Christian couples who need financial assistance with the dream of adoption.  Explaining how Sacred Selections was founded, Dana says,

"After years of hearing young families lament that they could not afford an adoption and at the same time people wanting to know how they could help the adoptive families…. It occurred to us….

Why not start a foundation?

A foundation that would be totally separate from the Church.

A foundation that would be a certified non-profit tax free foundation.

A foundation whose oversight (Board) would be by members of the Lord’s Church.

A foundation that would Finance the adoptions for members of the Church.

A foundation that people could give their monies to confident that it would  go to place children in the homes of members of The Church of Christ.

SACRED SELECTIONS was born."

So, get ready Lexington!  Your opportunity to help with this great work will be here soon!

Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. James 1:27
